“Green” shopping bags are all the rage, and much better for the
environment than either “paper or plastic”. This sturdy tote makes a
wonderful shopping bag, or tote for your craft sewing supplies. Make
one or several, all will be useful and stylish.

for in choosing a Hawaiian appliqué pattern and then how to fold, cut,
baste, hand-appliqué and hand quilt a pattern provided by your teacher
or a pattern of your choice for a 20” finished size project. You will
also receive additional information for assembling your project into a

Start with a simple
fusible appliqué and build around it with a circle of squares. This is
a great project for the beginning piercer and appliqué novice. All
that’s required is a working knowledge of your sewing machine and you
can create this precious pooch in a snap. We’ll show you how!
In
this class you will build a ZIPPERED NOTIONS CASE. Come in and
check-out this classroom sample. Not only is the pattern great, but
ASSEMBLY KITS are also available and topping all this convenience, the
pattern designer and originator of the Pat-e-Patterns company, Lee
Fletcher will be here to teach this class. Lee is visiting in the valley
and has agreed to spend this day with us. You are familiar with some of
her other patterns and we have several samples hanging on the front
hutch. The ZIPPERED NOTIONS CASE is perfect to take to classrooms,
retreats or just stay organized at home. It is designed with inside
vinyl pockets to hold all necessary notions and even your patterns.
Nothing says “Spring” more that Pinwheels in the garden with flowers at
their feet. These pinwheels are as easy to create as picking a pack of
posies. “Charm Pack” posies, that is. Learn a new way to use offset
sashing and see how easy it can be to set blocks on point. Come make
one with us at Sun Valley Quilts. Thurs. Feb. 26, 9:30 - 3:30, Fee:
$35.00 with Joy
This is a class on learning how to do
appliqué in the embroidery machine. This class has several quick
projects that can be done in a short amount of time. If you are curious
about how to do appliqué with embroidery, then you will want to join us
for this class.
This is for all of you who have completed the Beginner’s !01-A series
and have been asking for a follow-up series. We will be meeting only
once a month and because of limited classroom availability, it will be
the 4th Monday EVENING, 5:30 to 8:30pm. This will allow us
to discuss the next step of construction and give you homework to do on
your own. The first pattern of choice is DUTCH WINDMILLS, and
construction will start with the January class. If you wish to stop by
on Dec. 22, we could discuss the plan for this class. You will need the
Quilt in a Day book, DUTCH WINDMILLS, and your 2 fabrics for the size
that YOU wish to make. Select a light and a dark fabric, or a
light and a medium value. Do not select a large print.
The Double Wedding
Ring is usually a “challenging” quilt to make, with curved seams and
points. QuiltSmart takes the curbed piecing out of the process and
finishes with straight sedge (instead of the scalloped edge often
found). Get some help to get started on your “dream” quilt, whether a
small table topper or larger bed size quilt, in this class. You will
finish a lot faster than you thought.
Those of you who have sewn each month with Pat Grago will appreciate
this less structured class. We may still order the Scrap Therapy
patterns if that is the group’s choice. Or Pat will come up with other
choices.
Date:
Saturday - January 17
