SEW Smart

One Saturday morning a month we will present a topic of interest to all sewists. It is information important to all of us as we pursue our hobby to help you get the best results possible. We will teach you about fabric and threads that we sell, needles, and stabilizers to help you make the best decision about the products you choose to use. Lynn will demonstrate the long arms and ruler work for those who want to know what all the fuss is about, also techniques like hooping designs and transferring them from discs or online into your machine for stitch out. We hope you will join us to listen and learn more about sewing and the tools that we use.

Software Techniques: Bernina DesignerPlus V8.1

This class is to learn the many aspects of the Bernina Designer Plus V8.2 Embroidery Software. Students will work with the software installed on their laptops in class and practice the techniques. Each month will be a different technique with the exception of lettering. This class is appropriate for those new to the software or those who have owned and worked with it for sometime. The techniques taught will look at all aspects of the software from filing and organizing your designs to working with Corel designing original artwork for digitizing. The supplemental programs such as quilting, cross stitch, applique, auto-digitizing and monograms will all be covered. The techniques are taught from the Designer Plus manual so supplemental purchases are not required. January: The technique will be lettering. Most home embroiderers include some type of lettering in their designs. We will look at the many options available to you including font, types, sizes, restrictions, shaping, Word Art, break apart, small fonts, curving baseline, and many more.

Quilt and Chat A

This is one of our longest-running clubs and always popular. If you are experienced and looking only for a social group to visit with as you do your piecing, or if you are an absolute beginner looking for some help with each step of construction, this is a very economical way to obtain your goal. The groups are very supportive and there is and instructor there to help with your project--piecing, appliqué, or whatever! Come for half a day or go to lunch with other students and stay for the full day of sewing. Some regulars come for all 3 sessions!
