Let?s Dance! Color Dance, that is? this beautiful Block of the Month program uses fat quarters to teach you some of the basics of quilt block constructions using two easy to construct quilt block units. Master the basics of flying geese, half square triangles, and learn many tips and tricks all while constructing a wonderful quilt that is sure to impress anyone who sees it! There are 6 blocks to make plus a 7th class for finishing if needed.

If you have been wanting to try art quilting and were not sure where to begin this is the class for you. Using 2 identical panels of your choice, you will learn many new techniques for adding texture and dimension to your quilts. With Lexi's assistance you will work on adding dimension using batting, thread play, and more!

This is all new and sure to be fun! Additionally, we will be going over Stitch Designer on the newer TOL (top of the line) machines to create your own stitches if you choose.

If you have a project... anything you're working on or want to start that is happening in the hoop this is the class to join. Each student will be embroidering any project of the choice. It's the perfect time to catch up or start something new! In June, our featured project is a beginner?s block that we will incorporate into an elegant pillow or choose to make it much larger for another project of your choice. It will accentuate puffy quilting. Choose your block that works for your hoop size. You must download your design from Kreative Kiwi: ?Cushion Cover Using The Eyespy Trapunto Feather Block. Designed by Kay Hindmarch.

Explore free motion quilting and practice on the Q'Nique longarm. Learn to sketch, then stitch a variety of motifs from gentle curves, to pebbles, leaves and more. New motifs every month. Choose the Thursday or Saturday session. Bring a sketchbook and pencil to practice the designs before we move to the longarm. Each month will feature different motifs. Class content is the same on both days, so you only need to attend once a month.

If you wanted to make bags but have found the patterns intimidating this class will teach you some of the basic skills needed and you will be able to finish at least one bag of your choice (or maybe two) in class. I do recommend starting with the medium size as the smaller ones are more challenging but doable.

Beginning quilters and those that need a refresher class will have the opportunity to join Andi for this Jumpstart Camp. You will be making quilt blocks and creating a sampler tablerunner. You'll learn cutting procedures, proper seam width, block assembly, adding borders, the actual quilting and adding your binding. Stay, learn and laugh until 2pm.

This is a great time to make your Seasonal gnomes for home decoration or gifts. A few of the upcoming holidays such as St. Patty?s Day or Easter as well as Spring time. Make it during class and take home a finished project.

TEACHER?S NOTE: Make this fun Velveteen bag that already has the zipper and lining already sewn in. We will make raw edge flowers and puff them to look 3D. In this class you will learn stitching techniques, including couching, adding lace, cording and beads to create wings and then learn how to add decorative pieces to your heart shape decorating it to make our art piece. This is an opportunity to use scraps, embellishments, bits & bobs, lace, ribbon, cording, beads, buttons, and small findings to create your one of a kind hang-able heart art. Come join us in our large classroom for some friendly, fearless, fun stitching happiness! This is an unstructured opportunity to bring your own project, and socialize at the same time. You'll have access to our cutting tables, mats, ironing boards, large tables, refrigerator, microwave and you'll get to share your show and tell! This newly reformatted class, will be much like Quilt and Chat used to be, though there will be no class instructor. You will have access to the SVQ staff if you're truly stuck, but we know that our customers are often the best at troubleshooting sewing difficulties! Come meet new friends and join those you've sewn with for years!

Come join us for a fun filled evening, wear your pajamas or your more formal attire. Our Midnight Madness and Embroidery Chicks have combined with a new name for double the fun. There will be shopping, sewing or working on your embroidery UFO's (Unfinished Objects) with the companionship of other enthusiasts. We can't guarantee how much actual work will be accomplished, but we know you'll all have a good time! Register early, bring a snack to share and bring your machines, modules, threads and your projects. Bring your own drinks and snacks, be prepared to share and have a good time. Class size limited. Please register early. Typically meets 3rd Friday evening each month 5:00PM to 11:00PM!

This class is open to anyone working on a paper piecing project! It is for those who are comfortable in a sit and sew environment. In it's new format it welcomes anyone who is familiar with and working on any type of paper piecing project. There is assistance available, but no formal class instruction.

Rulers Can Quilt - Advanced Class Spring You are welcome to come to this informative class if you have taken even one Rulers Can Quilt Beginning class. During the next few months, we will continue to explore how to use our rulers in borders, combine ruler work with free motion for embellishment, and work on creating designs for those unfinished quilt tops you wish to complete. Sign up online through SVQ website or in person.

This class will introduce students to the amazing world of quilting with rulers. Learn to quilt your own quilting treasures with rulers and gradually move into free motion as your skill with rulers grows. The first class will involve learning on 12 inch square quilt sandwiches; with the next few classes showing how to use your beginning sampler set in unique ways including borders, wall hangings or table toppers. Check at the front counter for a complete extensive supply list of what is needed to start this new adventure in quilting.

One Saturday morning a month we will present a topic of interest to all sewists. It is information important to all of us as we pursue our hobby to help you get the best results possible. We will teach you about fabric and threads that we sell, needles, and stabilizers to help you make the best decision about the products you choose to use.

Each row demonstrates a wide range of techniques that will build the skills of novice quilters and be a fun play day for the experts. Techniques include strip piecing, curves, and a new way to paper piece! Be sure to join us for the Traverse BOM, a satisfying adventure in technicolor!

  • Class fee must be paid at time of registration, in cash, check or credit card if paying online.  If paying by check please make check payable to the Sun Valley Quilts.

  • Students registering for classes online should contact the store by phone or in person to request a student supply list.
  • Cancellations must be made no later than 48 hours prior to class in order to receive a refund. If registration is below our class minimum of three, the class may be cancelled and a full refund will be issued.

  • Each student must have their own pattern or book if required for the class as stated under class supply list. We follow copyright laws to protect authors and pattern designers.

  • A 10% discount will be given on all class supplies and on all fabrics purchased on the day of class.

  • Please no children or visitors in class. We ask that you not use your cell phones during class time to avoid disruptions.



Vibrance equals energetic, resonating.  This is what we have for you…..please join us on Friday, July 29 for a light lunch and a WHOO-HOO BU party!  The five of us attending will be giving you an inside look at our week-long experience!  We will be showing the new B 735 machine which we have on the floor, we will have pictures and stats on the new Kaffe Fassett designed B 770 machines, the new air threader sergers, new hoops, a new Big Book Of…… and more!!!  We will be giving out prices to you, taking deposits, reviewing the free gifts from us with machine purchases, all the things you want to know.  Help us make this a success, get your orders in and secure your purchases since the Kaffe designed machines are Special Editions and that equals scarcity and no re-orders from by Dealers, have a bite to eat, and let us entertain you!!  We’ll be open for questions, as always, and we will have some in-store specials to talk about, also.  It will be a very informative, light, entertaining afternoon for you.  Party starts at noon.  Vibrance  and Color were the themes for BU.  Please sign up so we know how many to expect, and thank you in advance!  This event will replace our usual Aug.
