Let's Dance! Color Dance, that is? this beautiful Block of the Month program uses fat quarters to teach you some of the basics of quilt block constructions using two easy to construct quilt block units. Master the basics of flying geese, half square triangles, and learn many tips and tricks all while constructing a wonderful quilt that is sure to impress anyone who sees it! There are 6 blocks to make plus a 7th class for finishing if needed.

Collage quilts are made from bits of fabric layered onto a base to create a picture, a design or tell a story. They can be glued, fused or stitched then quilted. Learn the process, the techniques, and the art of fabric collage from this experienced art quilter and teacher. Bring your supplies and your favorite collage pattern for help choosing the perfect fabrics for your project. Bring fabrics from your stash, too. as Variety is the Spice of Life! Try something new. Be Creative! Come join us for a day of fabric and fun!

If you have a project... anything you're working on or want to start that is happening in the hoop this is the class to join. Each student will be embroidering any project of the choice. It's the perfect time to catch up or start something new! In June, our featured project is a beginner?s block that we will incorporate into an elegant pillow or choose to make it much larger for another project of your choice. It will accentuate puffy quilting. Choose your block that works for your hoop size. You must download your design from Kreative Kiwi: ?Cushion Cover Using The Eyespy Trapunto Feather Block. Designed by Kay Hindmarch.

The quilt is quilted, now you need to decide how to finish those edges. You will learn how to calculate the amount of binding needed, the best width and type of binding for the project, how to cut and apply straight binding, bias binding and art quilt facings. You will learn tips and tricks for hand and machine applications. We will cover when a hanging sleeve should be used and how to make and apply one. Those edges will be finished in no time.

Sew a straight line and end up with perfect points on intricate-looking patterns! Foundation paper-piecing can seem like Magic. Let your imagination soar as these butterflies dance across your quilt. Flutter Free foundation paper piecing pattern is included in the class fee.

Are you intrigued by paper piecing but get lost in the process? Are you in need of a step by step class which is appropriate for beginners and those that want a refresher? Join Andi as she provides the pattern and the hand holding so you too can create paper pieced butterflies! Make a few, turn it into a table runner or placemats. Make more and you'll have a quilt. You need only a willingness to learn, four fat quarters, a working sewing machine and basic sewing supplies!

Beginning quilters and those that need a refresher class will have the opportunity to join Andi for this Jumpstart Camp. You will be making quilt blocks and creating a sampler tablerunner. You'll learn cutting procedures, proper seam width, block assembly, adding borders, the actual quilting and adding your binding. Stay, learn and laugh until 2pm.

Explore free motion quilting and other longarm techniques on our Q'Nique longarm. Typically offered one day per month. March - Learn how to set up your machine to work with rulers. Explore a variety of block designs and borders that use straight rulers and curved templates. Remember, we like to "Sketch, then Stitch" so bring a notebook! April -Learn how to stitch beautiful freeform feathers. This casual free-hand technique can fill any space. Try a single-sided feather in a border and take a spin with a feathered wreath. Remember, we like to "Sketch, then Stitch" so bring a notebook! May -Fillers and Filler Technique

Come join us in our large classroom for some friendly, fearless, fun stitching happiness! This is an unstructured opportunity to bring your own project, and socialize at the same time. You'll have access to our cutting tables, mats, ironing boards, large tables, refrigerator, microwave and you'll get to share your show and tell! This newly reformatted class, will be much like Quilt and Chat used to be, though there will be no class instructor. You will have access to the SVQ staff if you're truly stuck, but we know that our customers are often the best at troubleshooting sewing difficulties! Come meet new friends and join those you've sewn with for years!

Come join us for a fun filled evening, wear your pajamas or your more formal attire. Our Midnight Madness and Embroidery Chicks have combined with a new name for double the fun. There will be shopping, sewing or working on your embroidery UFO's (Unfinished Objects) with the companionship of other enthusiasts. We can't guarantee how much actual work will be accomplished, but we know you'll all have a good time! Register early, bring a snack to share and bring your machines, modules, threads and your projects. Bring your own drinks and snacks, be prepared to share and have a good time. Class size limited. Please register early. Typically meets 3rd Friday evening each month 5:00PM to 11:00PM!

This class is open to anyone working on a paper piecing project! It is for those who are comfortable in a sit and sew environment. In it's new format it welcomes anyone who is familiar with and working on any type of paper piecing project. There is assistance available, but no formal class instruction.

Rulers Can Quilt - Advanced Class Spring You are welcome to come to this informative class if you have taken even one Rulers Can Quilt Beginning class. During the next few months, we will continue to explore how to use our rulers in borders, combine ruler work with free motion for embellishment, and work on creating designs for those unfinished quilt tops you wish to complete. Sign up online through SVQ website or in person.

This class will introduce students to the amazing world of quilting with rulers. Learn to quilt your own quilting treasures with rulers and gradually move into free motion as your skill with rulers grows. The first class will involve learning on 12 inch square quilt sandwiches; with the next few classes showing how to use your beginning sampler set in unique ways including borders, wall hangings or table toppers. Check at the front counter for a complete extensive supply list of what is needed to start this new adventure in quilting.

One Saturday morning a month we will present a topic of interest to all sewists. It is information important to all of us as we pursue our hobby to help you get the best results possible. We will teach you about fabric and threads that we sell, needles, and stabilizers to help you make the best decision about the products you choose to use.

Tara Faughnan creates quilts that play with color and value. Tara's eye catching palettes live in the sweet land between harmony and discord, but always with a pleasing feel. The Traverse Block of the Month is Tara's take on a traditional row by row quilt but with a decidedly modern look and a brilliant display of colors. Each row demonstrates a wide range of techniques that will build the skills of novice quilters and be a fun play day for the experts. Techniques include strip piecing, curves, and a new way to paper piece! Be sure to join us for the Traverse BOM, a satisfying adventure in technicolor!

  • Class fee must be paid at time of registration, in cash, check or credit card if paying online.  If paying by check please make check payable to the Sun Valley Quilts.

  • Students registering for classes online should contact the store by phone or in person to request a student supply list.
  • Cancellations must be made no later than 48 hours prior to class in order to receive a refund. If registration is below our class minimum of three, the class may be cancelled and a full refund will be issued.

  • Each student must have their own pattern or book if required for the class as stated under class supply list. We follow copyright laws to protect authors and pattern designers.

  • A 10% discount will be given on all class supplies and on all fabrics purchased on the day of class.

  • Please no children or visitors in class. We ask that you not use your cell phones during class time to avoid disruptions.
