Are you looking for a chance to embroider with others? Do you have an embroidery project that you're afraid to start on your own? Join Jan for this workshop that is based on students working at their own pace, on their own project and on their machines. If you have taken your mastery classes, participated in some basic beginning embroidery projects and are familiar with your machine come stitch along with this great group of gals. No Class in January or February 2017

This class covers all of the basic steps for learning to do easy or difficult applique. We explore the edge stitches and different types of fusible web, stabilizers, and threads. Machine applique is much easier than beginners believe it to be. A fun, low stress morning. We are sharing this class time with the Thangles class.

Come join us for a fun filled evening, wear your pajamas or your more formal attire. Our Midnight Madness and Embroidery Chicks have combined with a new name for double the fun. There will be shopping, sewing or working on your embroidery UFO’s (Unfinished Objects) with the companionship of other enthusiasts. We can’t guarantee how much actual work will be accomplished, but we know you'll all have a good time! Register early, bring a snack to share and bring your machines, modules, threads and your projects. Bring your own drinks and snacks, be prepared to share and have a good time. Class size limited. We are starting our Fall project and it will continue for several months, allowing time for late arrivals and winter visitors to join in. The selected item is LOG CABIN and it's many variations. If you have not yet made a log cabin, the traditional style is great, but experienced quilters are selecting widely different patterns. The joy of this class will be seeing how these variations progress and the wonderful finished projects. I have seen Twisted Logs, Half Logs, Smokey Mountain Log Cabin, Colorado Log Cabin and miniature log patterns being considered. Any pattern based on the Log Cabin is perfect. Join now and be part of this expansion of experience. This class typically takes place on the 2nd Tuesday (after Quilt and Chat) from 1:30 - 4:30

Come and join the fun in Trudy's afternoon and/or evening class and work on either of these projects or anything else you would like. New students are welcome anytime! Let's have fun with this, take our time, and remember "You Can Sew Do It" and/or "Precuts Palooza" is the place to be on 4th Mondays with Trudy!!! In October, on the 4th Monday, during "You Can Sew Do It" in the afternoon or during "Pre-cut and Such" in the evening, Trudy will teach a class on "The Fold & Stitch Wreath". Mary became a certified teacher in this method of quilting and invites you to join her to improve your skills and play with color. There is a surprise in every quilt with AnglePlay. Join us for a new group "Cotton Theory Monthly". Each month the Cotton Theory project we work on will teach you a wealth of information about the method as well as quilting in a new and different way, using decorative stitches from your machine, assembling the quilt with dimensional seams plus binding in a variety of ways. There is no hand sewing involved so you will be learning a lot about using your machine as well as the technique itself.

Beginning quilters and those that need a refresher class will have the opportunity to join Andi for this Jumpstart Camp. You will be making quilt blocks and creating a sampler tablerunner. Stay, learn and laugh until 3:30pm. All students will have the opportunity to leave their machines in our classroom overnight and return the next day if you would like to participate in Andi's Finishing Class.

Lets have fun with Basic Foundations. This is a less structured class to give you some freedom. Choose one of the patterns you would like to make and join us. As always you are welcome to bring in any UFO you happen to be working on. If you need help just ask. No class January 2017

Join Barb for this fun and relaxed evening class. Students are free to work on the project of their choice! Barb is familiar with all types of sewing from applique to log cabins, from foundation piecing to crazy quilts! Leave the television shows at home and come sew with your friends! This class is for people who have completed several Judy quilts and are comfortable in a sit and sew environment. There is assistance available but no formal instruction. The group encourages one another and shares ideas for Judy projects. This is another great venue to support you in finishing Judy quilts. If you are new to these patterns we ask that you take Judy Neimeyer for Beginners or Judy Neimeyer Intermediate Class before joining this group. Starting February 2017 class fee will be $15.00

The class previously called Software Sampler is back! This is a video presentation by BERNINA educators. There will be samples of the project and demonstrations of special techniques required to complete the project. A disk with the required designs, the video and software and project directions are included. The purpose of the class is to learn the BERNINA Editor Plus and Designer Plus Software 7 one project at a time, learning as you go, building skills over time.

Do you have a bag you have started and need to finish? Do you have a new bag that you are intrigued by but not sure you know how to complete? This is your opportunity to jump feet first into a two day bag making session. Attend on Saturday and if it fits your schedule leave your machine and return on Sunday. February and March 2017: Hidden Treasure Tote Class, The Creative Thimble has created a wonderful tote pattern that fits the needs of the occasion. The larger purse can be used as purse or to carry purchases. There are two large front pockets and up to three zipper pockets on the back (you chose the number of zipper pockets). The larger purse allows you to carry a smaller purse inside to carry all your essentials for shopping without carrying a larger purse into the store, just take what you need. The smaller purse has a longer strap to put over your shoulder or as a cross body. This mini purse has two outside pockets, zipper closure and a flap. Come join this newly designed class for beginning machine embroidery. If you have a neglected embroidery module, we need you! Is your module still in its original box? Each month, we will complete a new project to provide you with a wealth of exposure and experience to all the possibilities. You will LEARN all the steps leading from set up of your machine, attaching your embroidery module to introducing the design and sewing it out complete the project in class.

This beginner class is an introduction into the wonderful, creative, playful world of quilts with elongated triangles that give lots of motion to a design. In this class you will learn to cut fabric using AnglePlay templates. Mary will have templates you may use in class. If you like the method you may purchase your own set of templates. We begin with a table runner that uses only two blocks. Look at the sample hanging in the classroom and the pattern cover to get ideas for color placement. If you are having fun, stay for the afternoon session as well! Morning Session $15 or All Day $25

Have you wondered how to sew one of those gorgeous landscape quilts you've seen at quilt shows? Keeping in mind that every landscape quilt is unique, there are some simple ways to convey the elements of landscape design, such as colors that convey the impression of distance and shapes that suggest elements of nature, such as rocks, islands and waves. In this workshop you will make two sample projects and if time permits, work with your inspirational photographs and pictures to create a new design. Our second session will involve embellishing, quilting and finishing our designs. You will be surprised at how these simple ideas can create something beautiful and all yours!

Practice, practice, practice... but where do you begin? You don't need to be intimidated by free motion quilting! USING YOUR OWN DOMESTIC SEWING MACHINE, let's get started. In class, we will sew through a series of exercises to get familiar with the basic moves of free motion quilting. This class will give you tools so you can finish your own quilt your way ~ make it your creation from beginning to end. You'll get lots of direction and practice in this class.

You've seen the Fiberworks patterns right? The cute elephant, the cow, the two pigs? Adorable! In this two part class, we'll be cutting and pressing and gluing these cute critters onto our base fabric and the following day, we'll get going on the quilting. What makes these work is the play of pattern and contrast so we'll have both discussion and hands-on workshop. You won't want to stop at making just one of these patterns!

Got scraps? We will meet monthly to use those scraps to make beautiful items. This is a sit-and-sew club and every month LeAnn will present an option for using scraps. You are welcome to make that item or work on a project of your own choosing. Students are welcome to suggest uses for scraps and every class will include a show and tell.

Mary's Park Bench Sew-Along has finished and now the gals want to continue on working with other patterns from JayBird Quilts. Join the fun for one session or come monthly as this group will meet through the end of the year. These are modern quilts, all sizes using the same two rulers. You will be inspired by others in the class, get lots of ideas for your creations, and make new friends in the process. This is a full day class so you can have more time to work, laugh and play! This class is for the novice. We recommend that you take at least 2 classes, one to concentrate on reading the pattern and cutting, and another to become confident with this method of paper piecing. All students will work from the same table runner pattern ~ Cactus Flower. Ongoing instruction takes place.

Join Tammy for this four day workshop where students will decide what to work during this open format. Students who would like to work on either Sunsational Magnolia or Vintage Rose, should let the store know so we have patterns available to you. Finally, if you have taken or started a Judy Neimeyer project in the past and forgotten what comes next or are unsure of what to do... join Tammy for the entire camp or just a day or two. For the first time, we are offering a day rate of $75 but pre-registration is required. If you have any questions at all, please contact the store directly.

A new class in free motion quilting designs, this class is based on simple designs that are great for landscape quilts but also useful in many places on many types of quilts. Some designs are simple water, contours, pebbling, leaves, flames, and sky designs, as well as others. This is a class for those who have tried a little free motion quilting, but want to learn more. Students can make all or part of the sampler, or just learn the stitches and variations.

Meet in our classroom for a full day of Anita Goodesign embroidery. This class is designed for students to work on the project of their choice, with Joy available to share her wisdom and knowledge to help you meet your goals!

Want to jump into the amazing world of quilting? Here's your chance! Join Debbie for a day of fun exploring all the techniques you will need to begin your first quilt. You will learn how to choose fabric and prepare it for your project, how to cut the fabric using a rotary cutter and ruler and how to sew your patchwork accurately. We will make a block or two blocks in class for you to learn these principles. We will be using Alex Anderson's "Start Quilting" book as a guide. You need to have a sewing machine that you are familiar with and is in good working order. Please see supply list for additional items to bring to class.

Attach your quilt binding completely by machine! Great techniques for those who just don't like handwork, or for those projects under a tight deadline. We will cover mitered corners and joining the ends as well as two methods for finishing: decorative stitching and stitch-in-the-ditch.

Once you have completed a table runner and/or quilt by Judy you may attend this level. Each student may work on the Judy project of his/her choice. There will be ongoing instruction of various techniques as they are presented in your pattern. You may attend as many of these sessions as you desire until you have made several Judy quilts and gain confidence.

The Blue River pattern allows the quilter to play with colors and block placement to create a one-of-a-kind quilt. Make a small lap quilt or add blocks to make it fit your bed. Stick with the monochromatic palette or choose a focal print with coordinating fabrics. The variety is truly amazing!

Your choice ~ make either the baby carriage or Christmas sleigh. Baby carriage makes a great baby shower gift, it will hold diapers or you can fill it with all the other stuff you have or need for a baby. You could also change to Halloween fabric to hold your candy. Christmas sleigh can be decorated with bells, lights or whatever you choose and will hold lots of Christmas candy.

There will be two patterns available to work on in class, Ladder On Pueblo Wall and Bisbee Bell Tower. These are patterns designed by the instructor. The alternative is bringing a large (8 x 10 or 11 x 14) photograph from which we will design a pattern. There will be no extra charge for the pattern provided by the instructor.

  • Class fee must be paid at time of registration, in cash, check or credit card if paying online.  If paying by check please make check payable to the Sun Valley Quilts.

  • Students registering for classes online should contact the store by phone or in person to request a student supply list.
  • Cancellations must be made no later than 48 hours prior to class in order to receive a refund. If registration is below our class minimum of three, the class may be cancelled and a full refund will be issued.

  • Each student must have their own pattern or book if required for the class as stated under class supply list. We follow copyright laws to protect authors and pattern designers.

  • A 10% discount will be given on all class supplies and on all fabrics purchased on the day of class.

  • Please no children or visitors in class. We ask that you not use your cell phones during class time to avoid disruptions.
