Sew Sisters: Tuesday

Join us for the Sew Sisters monthly get together. Bring whatever you want to work upon and enjoy the camaraderie of being around positive energy, laughter and tips from other quilters. 

Birds of a Feather June 30-July 1  July 28-29 
If you wish to start a new project (or PHD). this month’s focus is a beautiful small quilt 65” x 80” with panels of birds and pieced maple leaves in the borders. Choose the spring/summer panel or a more autumnal theme. The Spring panel is available with companion fabrics at SVQ upon request from the front counter. The main lesson taught in this project involves half square triangles created 8 at a time. Learn this fun technique and use it in future quilts. The maple leaves are great stash busters, or buy some amounts of colorful batiks or blenders to create these stunning blocks.

Winter Project in the Fall! August 24-25 Sept. 22-23
If you wish to learn a new skill, I will have a new pattern I’m teaching called Glacial Snowfall Table Runner. The sample at the shop is a beautiful 25” x 90” beginners Paper Piecing project. It can also be made in a 12 ½ x 42” smaller size. If you have never paper pieced before, I can get you started on a new obsession. I will teach this in a “strip piecing” method as you complete each hexagon (snowflake ) in sets of six “strip
pieced" triangles. Think of it as chain piecing but on a paper pieced snowflake. I will go over the theory and tips needed to understand this amazingly accurate way of quilting.
